Hope everyone is doing well.
Looks like everything is set for my TFWA ministry trip to Togo this coming Sunday (July 28). My airline tickets have been purchased.
One of the main objectives of my upcoming trip to Togo is to help kids work for their school uniforms and then, of course, help them get enrolled in school. This is just a continuation of an ongoing project that started numerous years ago.
I'll also be investigating opportunities for new projects to help the Togolese.
Housing for my two month stay was very difficult to find in the Lome, Togo, area, as during July and August all Air BnB’s are fully booked with Togolese residents. My next trip will be at a different time of year for sure.
Our Baptist convention in Portugal has a working relationship with the Baptist in Sao Tome and Principe, an island in the Gulf of Guinea. Maybe I can go there next year, but I also have invitations to go to Guinea Bissau (mainland) to work with the evangelical church there.
I am still waiting for my visa to be cleared to fly to Togo. Hopefully, by Friday it will come in. If not, I’ll have to change my airline tickets to accommodate that. [Editor’s Note: Visa approval was received in the mail on Wednesday, July 24.]
In July and August, our area [Lisbon and Caldas da Rainha, Portugal] is filled with cultural events, from music to dance to festivals.
We are still waiting for our Portuguese Residence Cards to be delivered, since they have been approved. Our postal system is not a shining star of efficiency.
I hope to be back in the States for two weeks in November for a family wedding in Nashville, TN.
Blessings to all.
Mike
