Emmaus Way

Dear Friends and Supporters of Togo House.

We are celebrating 10 years in Togo, West Africa. Making disciples through Asset Based Development has been a most rewarding ministry. We have seen so many people who have never heard of God wake up to His presence and His love for them. They have seen that their lives have worth and value to Him and the community they live in. WeI cannot thank you enough for being faithful supporters of God’s work here.

Our ministry will now change location. We will be leaving Togo this Spring and returning to the States to prepare for our next ministry in Portugal. I (Mike) am retiring from our sending agency (Cooperative Baptist Fellowship) at the end of May but Lynn is carrying on as African/Middle East team leader. We pick up ministry that we did years ago in Paris. It is ministry that accompanies African immigrants arriving in Portugal…some with legal papers, more and more without.

Jesus walked with two men going to Emmaus. They were confused and life had dealt them a low blow. But Jesus walked with them, talked with them and broke bread with them until he was revealed as the risen savior. This will be our work.

Please continue your support of our ministry your prayers and offerings are needed. If you give to CBF, continue to do so. If you give through our non-profit 2gether 4 West Africa (TFWA), please continue.

Here are our major prayer concerns for you to carry with you.

1. A good closure here in Togo. Our partners are receiving our educational, sports and art supplies. They are so thrilled. The people in our community are saddened at our leaving. Pray for them as they continue to seek God in their lives.

2. A good transition time in the States. I will be working through the process of Social Security and downsizing our house in Long Beach, Ms. We both will be starting residence Visa process for Portugal. Prayer always makes Government doors open just a little wider.

3. Pray for the Holy Spirit to begin a place for our ministry in Portugal. We don’t know exactly where we will be located but will make a trip in July to begin that process. Last year on a visit there we visited a Baptist Church in the town of Caldas da Rainha. The immigrants from Guinea Bissau visiting that morning were so excited to meet us and be able to talk to someone who knew their country and their language. Baptist churches are eagerly seeking ways to reach out to those from Africa.

Blessing on each and everyone of you for being such strong and faithful supporters of God’s work on the mission field.

Hopefully during our time in the States we can visit and answer your questions.

Michael and Lynn Hutchinson
